First Due Car Fire

OCTOBER 30, 2009 - 2300 HOURS - At approximately 2300 hours, Station 7 was
Dispatched for a working car fire, Main Street, Hallstead Borough near Maloney’s. Chief
7 marked on scene finding the same as dispatched. Engine 7-1 and Rescue 7 went en route
With full crews. A 1 3/4” line was placed in service and the fire was knocked down. With
The vehicle being mostly destroyed minimal overhaul was needed. Crews cleared at 00:10

Update - November 13, 2009 - This fire was ruled arson and the homeowner has been charged.

November 7, 2009 - 1030 Hours - Station 7 was dispatched to assist Station 6(Great Bend)
For a working structure fire near Joe’s Disposal. Great Bend Command marked on scene with the
Fire Being at a residence approximately a ½ mile east of Joe’s Disposal with flames already through
The roof. Engine 7-1 and Tanker 7 Went en route with full crews. Engine 7-1 arrived on scene first
and assumed first due engine Duties. 150 Feet of 5 inch was laid from the bottom of the driveway.
Engine 7-1’s crew made Forced entry into the 3rd floor of the home. Upon entry into the door crews
were faced with heavy Smoke and fire. As crews began entry they were forced back out due to
deteriorating conditions. After the bulk of the fire was knocked down with outside hand lines and deck
gun operations, the Engine crew made their way back into the third floor and knocked the rest of the
fire down. After Extensive overhaul crews were back in service by 1300 hours.

RIT Assignment For Rescue 7

November 11, 2009 - Station 7 was dispatched as part of United Fire’s 2nd alarm with RIT
Assignment. Rescue 7 went en route with a crew of  8. Upon arrival the RIT team gathered up
Assorted RIT tools and staged in front of the two story structure. With Meshoppen coming in on
The 3rd alarm Rescue 7’s crew was asked to assist in overhaul on the 2nd floor. The Rescue cleared
At 0200.

Tanker Assist to Station 2

November 14. 2009 - At 1550 Hours, Station 7
Was dispatched to assist Station 2(New Milford)
With the Tanker. Tanker 7 arrived on scene and
Was returned to service as the fire was out.
Multiple Run Day For Station 7

December 5, 2009 - With the snow falling Station 7 was toned to assist New Milford Fire &
EMS for multiple accidents on Interstate 81 at various mile markers. All these runs would turn
Out to be minor and the Rescue was returned to service within a few minutes of dispatch.
Box Alarm Assist to Station 2

December 10, 2009 - 0930 Hours - Station 7 was dispatched to assist Station 2(New Milford)
For a house fire on Main Street, New Milford Borough. Engine 7-3 went en route shortly after
Dispatch. As E7-3 entered New Milford Borough, Command requested reduced rate as the fire
Was extinguished. Engine 7-3 stood by at the hydrant a few houses up upon arrival. E-7-3 returned
To service within 30 minutes.
Rescue Assist to Station 6

December 11, 2009 - 2215 Hours - With lake effect snow bands covering the area in snow and
Station 6(Great Bend) already out on a MVA on the Interstate. Rescue 7 was requested to assist
With another MVA on Route 171, Great Bend Township. The Rescue arrived on scene and began
Stabilization and extrication efforts. As they were making extrication efforts the PT went unconscious
And extrication was stepped up. The windshield was removed and patient extricated through there.
The Rescue returned to service in an hour.

MVA With Confinement

January 16, 2010 - 2050 Hours - Station 7 was dispatched for a 2 car head on MVA, Route 11 at the
Penndot sheds. Rescue 7 & Engine 7-3 would respond within minutes of dispatch. Chief 7 marked on
Scene and found that one patient was confined. With a simple door pop, the patient was removed from
The vehicle and turned over to EMS. In all 3 patients were transported to local hospitals.

Car Versus Pedestrian MVA

January 16, 2010 - 1815 Hours - At Approximately. 1815, Station 7 was dispatched for a Car versus
Pedestrian MVA, unknown injuries. Captain 7-1 arrived on scene reporting patient was up walking
Around. Rescue 7 went en route and was advised by the Chief to come in non-emergency. Patient
Signed BLS release and the Rescue returned to service shortly after.
Another United RIT Assist For The Rescue

December 12, 2009 - 1100 Hours - After the initial 2nd Alarm was transmitted and not enough green
Tags to respond, and second tone was struck and a RIT team was filled. Upon arrival Rescue 7 took
Over RIT duties from Rescue 2(Meshoppen). With RIT services no longer needed the Rescue returned
To service an hour and a half later.

5 Run Day For Station 7 - 3 MVA’s, Box Alarm, and Chimney Fire

 January 21, 2010 - This day would turn out to be one busy day for Station 7. To Start the day, at 0619
  Station 7 was dispatched to a one car MVA on Old Route 11. Chief 7 would arrive on scene to report
  No injuries, just traffic control required.

  The second run of the day would come at 1421 with a Structure Fire Box assist to Station 6(Great Bend),
  Blatchley Road, Windsor District. Engine 7-3 and Tanker 7 responded to the alarm. Engine 7-3 dropped
 Its Crew off at the scene and proceeded to move to a nearby creek to start a tanker fill site. Units would
  Return to service at 1639.

 As crews from the structure fire were cleaning up at the station, a first due MVA came in, Franklin Street,
 Hallstead borough. PSP requesting traffic control. Rescue 7 and Engine 7-3 went en route within seconds
  And on scene at the same time. Crews cleared at 1728.

 The 4th and 5th calls were dispatched 2 minutes from each other. The fourth call was dispatched at 1818.
 One car rollover with confirmed injuries, Interstate 81, Mile Marker 227. As crews were assembling for
  This call the Chimney fire call came in, Main Street, Hallstead Borough. Rescue 7 would respond to the
  Interstate with 4, and Engine 7-1 would respond to Main Street with 4. Rescue 7 would arrive on scene
 And assist in patient care. While assisting one patient would take a turn for the worst and the helicopter
 Was requested to fly. New Milford fire was requested to set up a landing zone for the Chopper. While
  This was going on Engine 7-1’s crew laddered the building and proceeded to clean the stove and chimney.
 The Rescue would return to service at 1906, and Engine 7-1 at 1912.

Another 4 Run Day For Station 7

January 23, 2010 - Station 7 would be in for a sleepless morning on this date. The first alarm came in
At 0130 Hours for a Stand by for Station 6, Fire Alarm Kime Apartments. It would turn out to be
A false alarm and units returned to service within 10 minutes. The second alarm of the night would
Come in at 0344 for Rescue assist to New Milford, One Car Rollover, Warren Park Road, New
Milford Township, all occupants out. The Rescue would standby at station due to occupants being
Out of the vehicle. New Milford command would return Station 7 back to service 10 minutes later.
The 3rd alarm would turn out to be the same as the first alarm for the night with another false alarm.
Station 7’s fourth call would be an assist to New Milford, Chimney Fire, Montrose Street, New
Milford borough. Engine 7-3 and Tanker 7 would respond with full crews. New Milford command
Would request Tanker 7 to stage at the pump and pantry and Engine 7-3 with its crew into the scene.
Engine 7-3’s crew would split with one green tag to the roof with assistance from a United green tag,
While the rest went to the basement to clean the fire box. After a tiring effort the chimney finally broke
Free and was cleaned out. The Engine would clear a hour and a half later.

Station 7 On Station 6 Box Alarm

January 26, 2010 - 1159 Hours - Station 7 was dispatched as part of a Station 6 Structure Fire
Box, Tarzan Road, Great Bend Township. Engine 7-1 would go en route with a full crew and
Arrive on scene first, assuming first due Engine duties. It was found that the main electrical box in the
Basement was shorting out and Claverac was requested for a power disconnect. Both Engine 7-1
And Engine 6-4 would stand by until the power was disconnected to the home. Units returned at
1230.
Engine 7-3 Assist On Susquehanna Structure Fire

January 27, 2010 - 0326 Hours - Station 7 was requested with an Engine to the scene of a house
Fire, Pleasant Ave, Susquehanna. Engine 7-3 would go en route with a crew of 4. Once one scene,
The crew would be requested to relieve the 2nd floor crew and assist in opening the structure up.
After a brief visit to rehab and bottle refills the crew went to work opening up the tin roof to wet
Down hot spots. Engine 7-3 returned to service at 0600 hours.
